Our School

Fraser Clarke

I have two children in Rush Common School, currently in Years Four and Five.  Professionally, I am a research astronomer at the University of Oxford, working with international teams on the development of instruments for the latest generation of astronomical telescopes. I also work with undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervising projects which give them their first steps in the research world, as well as running the University’s observatory, which plays a key part in outreach events with local schools.  Outside of work and family commitments, I can often be found at Didcot Railway Centre, where I volunteers as a locomotive fireman and enjoy engaging with the public to help them learn about our industrial past.

I have recently joined the governors, with the aim of contributing to the sound running of Rush Common School. I would like to use my experience of working with large teams, education, and outreach, to help the school’s management continue developing the excellent educational and pastoral environment my children have enjoyed for the past six years.
